Exhibition on the Stiftsberg - Heinrich I. in Quedlinburg

    King Heinrich I. and Quedlinburg cannot be separated. Starting at the 19th of May in 2019 there is going to be an exhibition about Heinrich I. in two chapters. The first chapter "919 – Plötzlich König" ("Suddenly King?") will deal with Heinrich becoming king of the medieval Saxons. Was it a sudden coincidence or did the enthronement take a longer approach? What are the major traits of Heinrich as king? While the first chapter is looking for answers to these interesting questions, the second chapter "Am Anfang war das Grab" ("In the beginning there was the grave") is dealing with Heinrich’s death and memoria. The collegiate church of Quedlinburg with it’s famous treasury gives testimony of the magnitude of the memoria for Heinrich I. the questions of this chapter of the exhibition will be about the legacy of a king and how one does remember him today.
